Falkor (white dog) and Rocket together at last
Hello Beautiful Soul!
When I adopted Falkor 2 years ago,
I knew we would need to make a slow and deliberate introduction.
My eldest dog, Rocket, does not make friends easily.
He’s insecure, highly reactive, and has arthritis.
For over a year, I had to keep the males separate from one another.
The times they were together would sometimes end poorly.
This created a lot of fear and anxiety within me.
So, I enlisted the support of a great dog trainer.
She said, “We only move at the speed of Rocket.”
This meant we progressed very slowly.
Nonetheless, after a year (a year!)
of dedicated work and hypervigilance
we had finally achieved my vision:
A cohesive pack of 4 senior dogs who get along beautifully
and trust one another.
Not gonna lie,
I’m dreaming about adopting another senior.
I want my house filled with 6 or more
Adorable, spunky, stinky-mouthed senior dogs.
Oh, the joy!!!
But I know now is not the time.
At least that’s what Rocket keeps telling me.
And I trust him.
