Hello beautiful soul!
Picture this:
It's September 2023 and I'm in a Sunday afternoon matinee with my daughter.
She is starting college within a few days and I am wanting to spend all my time with her.
We are watching the Barbie movie.
While the previews play, I glance down at my phone.
There are about 40 new payment notifications that have been made since I woke up that morning.
That is a lot of payments in a short period of time.
I am accustomed to receiving just a few new payments in any given day.
I'm confused.
I show my daughter my phone.
"Look at this. Isn't this strange? What do you make of it?"
She says, "I think you're being spammed."
I say, "Does spam usually come with money? Bring it on!"
We enjoy the movie and walk to the car.
As I settle in the driver's seat, I take another quick look at my phone.
The number of payments has doubled.
Curious, I check my work calendar and it is showing I'm overbooked for several weeks.
On some days there are 11 clients back-to-back!
I try not to hyperventilate.
"Hang on a minute.", I tell my daughter.
"I have to figure out why my calendar is exploding with clients all of the sudden."
Soon enough, I see the reason:
My interview on Next Level Soul with Alex Ferrari just published. We'd recorded it almost 3 months prior and I'd forgotten about it.
"Oh, my gosh!", I exclaim to my daughter.
"These are real clients! They watched my interview and liked my channeling. Now they are booking private sessions!"
She said, "Wow, Mom! That is cool. I wonder how many new clients you'll get."
As soon as we arrived home, I set about organizing my work calendar to accommodate this massive flow of new clients.
It took me the whole day.
The clients kept rolling in.
As my daughter packed her belongings for college, she would pop over to my computer and we would gaze wide-eyed as the numbers of viewers blew up.
80k, 120k, 180k, 250k....
By the time I moved her into her dorm room, she joked that her mom was a celebrity.
As I flew home, with the bittersweet ache of leaving my child at college, I felt a new sense of purpose.
For the next 8 months, I served over 300 amazing new clients from that one podcast interview.
At the time of that recording, I was still fairly new to the podcast interview world.
When Alex Ferrari asked me to offer live channeling on his show, I felt very intimidated.
I had no idea what types of questions he would ask me to channel.
All sorts of things could go wrong.
The day of the interview, I went for a hike in the woods of Ohio.
It was a way to clear my mind of anxious thoughts.
It worked so well that I lost track of time and had to race back uphill to make our appointment.
I flew in the front door, threw on a clean shirt, fluffed up my sweaty hair, and swiped on some lip gloss.
I logged on sweaty, nervous, and breathless.
Luckily, Alex and I quickly found a great flow.
I was able to channel with relative ease.
I got on with my life and forgot about the interview.
Until that moment in the darkened movie theater that changed my life and my business.
