A client asked to hear wisdom around her preferred distractions of overspending, overeating, and overbingeing on social media.  This message came from one of her Guides.

“If you did nothing any differently from where your behaviors lead you and guide you in this moment, could you love yourself?  While you do not need to answer this question right now, you do need to ask this question of yourself over and over again.  Your curiosity about why you are diverting your attention through these distraction techniques is a good one.  It is the avoidance of a deep and abiding self-love that is getting in the way.  How does one love themselves more fully and completely?  You have this understanding from the external.  What is missing is your connection from the internal.  What would it feel like to have complete and full self-love?  What would it feel like if you fully loved yourself while you were overspending, overeating, and overindulging?  Your current vantage point is that all of these behaviors are wrong, bad, and must stop.  But, all of these things are just behaviors, nothing more and nothing less.  The behaviors will stop when they are no longer feeling good to you.  The behaviors in many ways are feeling good, so why can’t you go out and say to yourself: ‘I’m going to go out and spend money unnecessarily and be present for myself within the context of that and allow myself to be guided to the item(s) that feels the best for me to obtain.’  You are being asked to introspect and find your connection with the loving aspect of yourself that self-expresses love.  It is the only way through.  There is no way out.  It is the only way through.”
